Downtown Destinations: Culp's Cafe at Carillon Historical Park

Carillon Historical Park's new expansion has provided a new space for the historic Culp's Cafe. Culp's Cafe was a popular place to eat at the Dayton Arcade for years before it closed in the 60's. This new spot for the cafe will feature many popular items that were on the menu at the original Culp's and other Dayton favorite recipes. The cafe will be open for breakfast & lunch daily from 7am to 3pm. One of the main features of the new cafe is the Barney Smith train car that you can dine in. You will also notice the beautiful soda fountain area that you can get old fashioned soda fountain drinks, ice cream & coffee at. In the warmer months there is a patio you can enjoy your food while getting to view the beloved Carillon Bell Tower. My friend enjoyed the Culp's breakfast platter while I had the Rike's chicken salad sandwich (Gluten free bread) with Mikesell's potato chips. For a take home treat for my family, I got a piece of the famous Culp's dessert of a devil's food cake with caramel frosting. I will defiantly be going back to enjoy a meal from the train car and try a soda fountain drink. Make sure that you stop by Culp's Cafe when you visit Carillon Park for a meal or snack for a taste of Dayton History.

Carillon Historical Park & Culp's Cafe is located at 1000 Carillon Blvd. For more information go to www.daytonhistory.org.
