Downtown Destinations: Gem City Catfe

Updated: Aug 6, 2019

The Gem City Catfe is a must visit for all cat & coffee lovers. And if you aren't a cat fan and the idea of cats wandering all over isn't your cup of tea, don't fear because they are in their own room! The area the cats are in is separated from the cafe by glass walls. There is a fee of $10 ($5 for members) to go into the cat area and reservations are a must for the busy evening hours. I didn't go in on my visit as my friend I met with is allergic to cats. We enjoyed checking out the cats from the window and the Wright Flyer cat tree is amazing! The catfe has an extensive hot & cold beverage menu with locally made baked goods. I had a decaf lavender & honey latte that was delicious! And I enjoyed it with a piece of cinnamon bread. We went up to 2nd floor to enjoy our mid-morning snack in the art gallery area, which is a wide open space decorated with art from local artists. It's a great space to work or visit with a group of friends. On my way out I bought a t-shirt from their shopping area that's filled with cat themed items for humans & cats. I will defiantly be going back another time to get to play with the cats and enjoy some of their delicious treats.

The Gem City Catfe is located at 1513 East 5th Street. For more information visit www.gemcitycatfe.com.
